MoMA Audio (icon)

The Museum of Modern Art is pleased to offer MoMA Audio, consisting of six distinctive audio programs: Special Exhibitions, Modern Voices, Modern Kids, Visual Descriptions, Red Studio Teen Podcast, and Think Modern: Adult and Academic Programs Audio Archive.

There are several ways to enjoy MoMA Audio:

At MoMA:
  1. Pick up a portable player free of charge at the Audio Program desk, and get access to the complete MoMA Audio program. Access audio in any sequence you like.
MoMA Audio listening devices are available in the Museum Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; and Friday, 10:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Transcripts are available upon request.

http://www.moma.org/wifi/audio/Connect to free MoMA WiFi with your iPhone, iPodTouch, or other wireless device to listen to MoMA Audio in the Museum. View the video of MoMA Audio on MoMAWifi

Visitors can now use wireless technology within the Museum to access MoMA's audio programs on their own handheld devices, completely free of charge. Log on to www.moma.org/wifi with your HTML browser-enabled device to hear audio commentary on specific works of art, current exhibitions, and more.

  3. Download MoMA Audio MP3s at home and listen on your MP3 player as you walk through the MoMA galleries.


At home:
  1. Listen to MoMA Audio online while looking at the corresponding images using our interactive player (Flash 7 plug-in required). Please note: due to copyright restrictions, not all images are available online.
  2. Download individual MP3 files to your desktop or MP3 player.
  3. Browse the iTunesU audio and video archive of MoMA Audio and Public Programs.
  4. Subscribe to MoMA Audio podcasts and receive new updates automatically. To subscribe, copy and paste the following URL into your podcast subscription software, such as iTunes, iPodder, or Odeo.

Modern Voices (icon)   MoMA Audio: Modern Voices offers commentaries by dozens of curators, artists, critics, and conservators who share their perspectives on select artworks in the Museum's collection. Available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Spanish.

Modern Kids (icon)   MoMA Audio: Modern Kids offers fun ways for children to explore works of art in the Museum's collection. Available in English only.

Visual Descriptions (icon)   MoMA Audio: Visual Descriptions offers extended visual descriptions of works in the Museum's collection for visitors with visual impairments and those seeking an in-depth looking experience. Available in English only. Visitors are encouraged to listen to corresponding Modern Voices commentaries.

  The Red Studio audio program was developed by MoMA’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) with the goal of creating dynamic audio for teens, by teens. Artists, visitors, Museum staff, and teens offer different perspectives on works in MoMA's Painting and Sculpture galleries. Available in English only.

  Think Modern: Adult and Academic Programs Audio Archive offers recordings of artists, scholars, critics, and writers sharing their in-depth knowledge of the Museum's collection, exhibitions, and contemporary issues in lively symposia, readings, and discussions. Available in English only.
